Whitefield is a suburban
part of Bangalore in Karnataka state in India. It was established in the late

Little history about
Whitefield, in the year 1882 His Highness, Chamaraja Wodeyar IX, allotted 3,900
acres of area to the Anglo-Indian Association for the making of the
agricultural establishment at Whitefield which was then Mysore state. The association was of 30 members and was a
part of the formation which made this first European and Eurasian settlement in
India.
The first ten years of the
1900s there was some 45 houses, 18 of them were in the village site and the
remaining were on the farms in a total land area of 2,000 acres of cultivation
land. In the year 1907 H.E. Lord Connemara who was the then governor of Madras
and the Bangalore district officials lent support to the development of the
location. The settlement was three kilometer from Chennai line where a station
was built. Workers from nearby Kolar Gold Field, which was at 50 km distance
found this place to be the convenient settlement. Two times UK Prime Minister,
Winston Churchill is said to have paid frequent visits to this location in a
place called Waverly Inn.
From a small village,
Whitefield has now has become a major hub for the technology industry. The
(EPIP) Export Promotion Industrial Park at Whitefield is one of the first IT
